…Singing to the old tune “as time goes by” as I watch Casablanca, inspiring me to chat about a subject most people don’t freely talk about, but we all absolutely love… KISSING! yes you know if you stop and think of that moment with that person that still makes you melt at the thought, you’re smiling right now. I know there is not much romance as there used to be in the world but I am hopeful we could spread it around. I am still that sappy romantic yes… I cry at the same ole romantic films, and play certain music just to feel the lyrics, I do stop and melt when I see a couple kiss, and love the moments I’m twirled to a song under the stars ending with a dip and a kiss. A KISS is the most beautiful expression of your feelings to anyone! Although it is the passion in a kiss that gives it its sweetness and the feeling of love that sanctifies it.
I can remember as a little girl reading romance novels, watching old flicks such as Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, From Here to Eternity (the beach scene is the best) and every moment leading up to that kissing scene made my heart skip faster as I fell in love with the feeling. I lived through those movies and the novels I read. I always dreamed of that moment it would happen to me, not just once but that same scene over and over again with that special someone forever. Who doesn’t want that? I have often known couples that tell me they don’t kiss anymore, when I hear this I cry inside for them because they are in a relationship daydreaming as I did as a child watching others do what they desire the most, it baffles me how people live this way!
I can’t imagine living without this special, amazing gift we have been given. Aside from the erotic kissing, it is used to express other deep and lasting feelings such as love, passion, gratitude, loyal affection, respect, greeting, friendship, sympathy, profound sorrow, and intense joy, among many others. There are a few theories on how kissing evolved. Kiss feeding, a process used by mothers to feed their offspring and Instinct they say. The most accepted theory is, kissing helps sniff out a quality mate. Still most people are satisfied with the explanation that humans kiss because it feels good. Our lips and tongue are packed with nerve endings which makes them sensitive to touch and bite and also help intensify all those dizzying sensations of being in love when we lock our lips with someone else’s.
A kiss can change everything, as a matter of fact, sometimes it is the only form of communication you need at the moment. I can’t even count the amount of times we kiss throughout the day. We take time out of our busy days to kiss no matter what. It is so important to keep this so alive in your relationship. The surprise kisses are the best, when out of nowhere Rob will grab me and kiss me like the romantic movie scenes I loved growing up. Create your own romantic life movie, there is no better feeling!
It is an extraordinary pleasure that is free for us to flaunt and be proud to show off with your special someone. When people see us kiss, they smile, they sigh, they are drawn to our expression of love for one another. It is a positive thing to spread to the world, the world really needs all the love we can add to it. I find that it becomes contagious. Often people will ask us the question “how do you know the person is “THE ONE” The kiss is the perfect indicator of your connection to the other person of course amongst other factors. A kiss will speak for itself in so many ways. It is something so simple that means so much!
In his book “The Kiss and its History”, Kristoffer Nyrop states “we all yearn for kisses, and we all seek them; it is idle to struggle against this passion. A kiss carries life with it; it bestows the gift of eternal youth. In the case of lovers a kiss is everything; that is the reason why a man stakes his all for a kiss, and man craves for it as his noblest reward.”
The BEST things in life are free, and the most beautiful! Grab your special someone and kiss away!
